Custody & Support

Law Offices of Sandra M. Rosenbloom ● Northfield, Illinois ● 847-441-1886

In any issue concerning children and divorce, I concentrate on what is in the best interest of the child. Whether it is a matter of child custody or child support, I help my clients find solutions that avoid confrontation and encourage cooperation. After all, in most cases, both parents and extended families will be part of each child's life long after the divorce is final. At the Law Offices of Sandra M. Rosenbloom, I provide my clients with Collaborative Law, negotiation, and Mediation services to settle the contentious issues involving children and marital dissolution.

Experienced Illinois Custody and Visitation Lawyer

I, Sandra Rosenbloom, Attorney at Law, focus on family and matrimonial law, and take special care when children are involved. While emotions run high, it is imperative to keep the personal dispute between spouses from pulling the whole family apart. To that end, I work toward a parenting time agreement that will be fair to both spouses and the children.

Generally, the parent who primarily takes care of the child will be the residential parent with physical custody. Unless there is an issue of serious endangerment to the child, such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, or drug and alcohol addiction, I discourage my clients from engaging in custody battles. I do encourage my clients to assert their visitation rights and make sure their children have substantial and meaningful contact with both parents. After the divorce, if a custodial parent wishes to relocate and both parents are willing to consider this, I can help renegotiate the parenting time agreement to ensure that both parents remains a significant part of the child's life. In the event there is no agreement on relocation (sometimes also referred to as "removal"), I will work vigorously with my client to determine how to best handle this situation, whether I represent the parent seeking removal or the parent opposing it.

In negotiating the child support agreement, I will make sure Illinois child support guidelines are the start of any negotiation, but work with my client to make certain that the amount and method of child support payments are determined in tax-effective and appropriate amounts, taking into consideration any adjustments that may be necessary as the circumstances warrant to include education expenses, extra-curricular activities, camp, and other related issues.
